No skin care routine is complete without moisturizing, so it’s important to remember this vital step to keep your skin soft and supple. However, you may be surprised to learn that moisturizing can also reduce the chance of future skin problems by helping you maintain a balance between being too oily and too dry. You should be applying your moisturizer post-cleanse to your slightly damp skin to promote long-lasting hydration.

Sunscreen plays a crucial role in protecting your skin from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. To prevent sun damage, dark spots, and wrinkles with a daily dose, choose a product that’s effective and easy to apply and it will become part of your skin care ritual in no time. There are even a wide variety of sunscreen options available that double as a cream or foundation, so there’s no excuse for you to skip out on UV protection.

Exfoliate for a Healthy Glow

There’s a lot of confusion surrounding exfoliation, especially when it comes to the delicate skin on your face. To keep your complexion from looking dull, it’s easy to glow-up with a bit of light exfoliation, but you should NEVER scrub too hard as this could cause noticeable damage. Always be gentle and use an exfoliation option made especially for your face.

Keep Yourself Hydrated

I can not stress how important it is to drink enough water and the impact this has on your skin. Drinking water keeps you hydrated from the inside out, and gives your moisturizer what it needs to maximize results. Most people do not drink enough fluids each day for a variety of reasons, and our busy schedules are often the cause. Make an effort to prioritize drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day and your skin will thank you for it!

Remove Makeup Before Bed

Speaking of busy schedules, we’ve all been there … the point when you get home exhausted after a long day of work and running never-ending errands that you just want to throw on your jammies and collapse into bed. Don’t let temptation turn your skin into a breeding ground for future breakouts. Take an extra 3 minutes to wash away makeup, oil and bacteria to prevent clogged pores and keep your skin looking fresh.

Get Your Beauty Rest

Once you’ve washed away the old dirt and makeup, feel free to tuck in for a good night of solid sleep. Depriving your body of the rest it needs is not only unhealthy, but it also accentuates the signs of aging and makes your wrinkles more prominent. Focus on getting the right amount of sleep each night so you can look and feel your best!
